Selecting Folders

To search for duplicate files, define the folders to scan using the folder tree in the left pane of Detwinner’s main window. Check the boxes next to the directories of interest.
Customizing Search Options
Detwinner uses presets to manage search options. Each preset includes:
- Scan masks
- Ignore masks
- Protected folders
- Filters for file size, last write date, and attributes (hidden/system)
Default presets include: All files, Documents, Images, Music, Photos, Similar images, Videos. You can modify or create your own.
Search modes:
- Exact duplicates: binary identical files
- Similar images: based on similarity percentage (1% to 100%)
Scan and Ignore Masks
Masks use Windows wildcards:
*.*— all files*.doc— all.docfilesdsc*.jpg—.jpgfiles starting withdscimage??.png—.pngfiles namedimagefollowed by two characters

Files are included if they match scan masks and do not match ignore masks. Masks are editable via buttons above the lists.
Protected Folders

Protected folders are excluded from duplicate search. Defaults include system folders, but you can add or remove folders (e.g., backups).
Other Settings

You can ignore files by:
- Size (with unit:
B,KB,MB,GB) - Last write date
- Hidden/system attributes
Managing Presets

Use the preset dropdown to switch configurations. You can:
- Add new presets
- Delete existing ones (except

Starting Search
Click the Start button to begin scanning for duplicates.

The results window includes:

Working with Duplicates List
Each group shows duplicate files or similar images. Additional columns for similar images:

Groups can be expanded/collapsed. Use checkboxes to mark files for deletion.
Preview Pane
Each group has a Default preview file (yellow lock icon). You can change it to compare visually against other files.

Smart Selection

Automatically select files using rules:
- Keep first/last
- Keep newest/oldest
- Keep shortest/longest filename or path
- Keep highest/lowest resolution or color count (for images)
Apply via Select button or group context menu.
Selection with Regular Expressions

Use regex rules to select files:
- Modes:
New selection,Add to selection,Subtract from selection,Intersect with selection - Match objects:
Full path,Folder path,File name
Common regex templates are provided. Invalid regular expressions will trigger warnings.

Deleting Duplicates

Deletion methods:
PermanentlyTo recycle binTo backup folder

You’ll be prompted if deleting all files in a group. Optionally delete empty folders afterward.
Backup folder structure mirrors original paths. Conflicts offer options: Overwrite, Skip, Rename.

Checking for Updates
Go to the About window and click Check for updates. If available, a download link will appear.
